The Entry of Taiwan and Hong Kong as Catalysts of Freedom in Mainland China: Towards a Superconfederal Democratic RepublicIn the first decades of the 21st century, Taiwan and Hong Kong have represented beacons of political, economic, and cultural freedoms in the Chinese-speaking world. While I observe how mainland China maintains an authoritarian one-party system under the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), these two regions have demonstrated that Chinese culture is fully compatible with democracy, media pluralism, and individual freedoms.
